Attributable to Group Chief Operating Officer Todd Moyle
Repairs to the Auckland signalling system following the signal box fire on Monday have been completed allowing normal operations to resume in time for this morning’s peak.
The repair was a lengthy process that involved cleaning the smoke-affected site, replacing the damaged components and a comprehensive commissioning process that involved extensive testing to ensure safety.
KiwiRail staff and contractors worked around the clock to fix the damage. The final work and testing was completed overnight.
We worked closely with Auckland Transport to minimise the consequences of the fire as much as possible.
We apologise again for the disruption this incident has caused Auckland commuters.
